RidgeText ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our SMS-based AI assistant service ("Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you register for RidgeText, we collect:

  • Phone Number: Your mobile phone number for SMS communication
  • Name: Your full name
  • Email Address: Your email address (optional)
  • Account Credentials: Password and account security information

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

  • Usage Data: Number of text queries sent, image analyses, image generations, subscription tier, and account activity
  • SMS Metadata: Message delivery status, timestamps, and message counts (but NOT message content tied to your identity)
  • Device Information: Mobile carrier information
  • Chat History: Your SMS conversations with our AI assistant, including text messages, images, voice messages, and documents you send (stored for 30 days, unless included in a bug/feedback report)

1.3 Bug Reports and Feedback

When you submit a bug report or feedback using the /bug or /feedback commands, we collect your message, the associated conversation history, and your user information. This data is retained indefinitely to help us troubleshoot issues and improve the Service.

1.4 Anonymized Conversation Data

We collect anonymized question and answer data from direct SMS conversations with our AI assistant to improve our AI service quality. This data is stored separately from your personal information and cannot be linked back to you individually. Conversations are assigned random session IDs that are not connected to your user account. This anonymized data is automatically deleted after 30-90 days.

Important: Data from connected third-party services (such as Google Calendar) is NOT included in this anonymized data collection and is NOT used for AI training or service improvement. See Section 10 for details on how we handle third-party service data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the RidgeText service and respond to your text inquiries
  • Send you AI-generated responses via SMS
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send service-related notifications (e.g., quota warnings, account updates)
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve bug reports submitted via /bug or /feedback commands
  • Improve our AI models and service quality through anonymized analysis of direct SMS conversations (excludes data from connected third-party services like Google Calendar)
  • Comply with legal obligations and telecommunications regulations
  • Prevent fraud and maintain service security
  • Maintain audit trails for compliance and accountability purposes

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

IMPORTANT - SMS Opt-In Data Protection:

We do NOT share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in consent data with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

3.1 Service Providers

We may share your information with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service, including SMS messaging platforms, cloud infrastructure providers, and payment processors. These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us and to protect your information.

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, such as to:

  • Comply with legal processes (subpoenas, court orders)
  • Respond to government requests
  • Protect our rights, property, or safety
  • Investigate fraud or security issues

3.3 No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention

4.1 Active Accounts

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service.

4.2 Chat History

Your SMS conversation history with our AI assistant is automatically deleted after 30 days. Links between your account and specific chat sessions expire after 24 hours for enhanced privacy. Generated images sent via MMS are automatically deleted after 1 day. Voice messages and documents (PDFs) you send are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

4.3 Feedback and Bug Reports

When you submit feedback or bug reports (via /bug or /feedback commands), we retain your report and associated conversation history indefinitely for troubleshooting, quality improvement, and resolving reported issues. These reports include the conversation context necessary to understand and address your feedback.

4.4 Account Deletion

If you delete your account, we will anonymize your personal information within 30 days. However, we may retain certain data for longer periods if required by law (e.g., billing records for tax purposes are retained for 7 years).

4.5 SMS Consent Audit Trail

For compliance with telecommunications regulations (A2P 10DLC), we retain records of your SMS opt-in and opt-out events indefinitely. This audit trail includes timestamps, methods (e.g., STOP/START keywords, signup), and IP addresses.

4.6 Administrative Audit Logs

Administrative actions taken on your account (e.g., tier changes, account suspension) are logged indefinitely for security, compliance, and accountability purposes.

4.7 Anonymized Data

Anonymized conversation data used for AI service improvement is retained for 30-90 days and then automatically deleted. This data is stored separately from your personal information and cannot be linked back to you.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Password Protection: Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard methods
  • Access Controls: Strict access controls limit who can access your data
  • Secure Infrastructure: Enterprise-grade cloud security protects your information

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your account information through your account settings.

6.2 Opt-Out of SMS

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by texting STOP to our service number. This will unsubscribe you from the Service.

6.3 Delete Account

You can request account deletion through your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal information will be anonymized.

6.4 Data Portability

You have the right to request a copy of your personal data in a machine-readable format.

6.5 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt-out of sales (we do not sell your data).

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

8. International Users

RidgeText is based in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via SMS or email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.

10. Google and Third-Party Connected Services

RidgeText allows you to connect third-party services (such as Google Calendar) to enhance your experience. This section describes how we handle data from these connected services.

10.1 What Google User Data We Access

When you connect your Google Calendar, we access:

  • Calendar Events: Event titles, dates, times, and locations from your Google Calendar

10.2 How We Use Google User Data

RidgeText's use of Google user data is limited to providing and improving user-facing features that you specifically request. Specifically, we use your Google Calendar data to:

  • Display your upcoming calendar events when you ask via SMS (e.g., "What's on my calendar today?")
  • Provide schedule information to help you plan outdoor activities

Google User Data Restrictions:

We do NOT use Google user data for:

  • Training AI or machine learning models
  • Targeted, personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising
  • Selling to data brokers
  • Providing to information resellers
  • Determining creditworthiness or for lending purposes
  • Creating databases unrelated to providing the service
  • Any purpose other than providing the calendar features you specifically requested

10.3 Google User Data Storage and Retention

Google Calendar data is accessed in real-time when you request it and is not permanently stored in our systems. Calendar information may be temporarily cached for up to 30 minutes to improve response times, after which it is automatically deleted. We store OAuth tokens (encrypted) to maintain your connection; these are deleted when you disconnect the service.

10.4 Disconnecting Google Services

You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time through your RidgeText dashboard. Upon disconnection, we immediately delete your OAuth tokens and any cached calendar data. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page.

10.5 Google API Services Compliance

RidgeText's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
